Day 64 Update - 15JAN09

Joshua had school today and worked with Ms. Lydia. It was cold today! We got all bundled up to go outside when we left this afternoon.

We left to go to the Children's Cancer Center tonight for their bi-weekly family get together. It was really great. We got to meet a lot of great families who are dealing with the same issues we are, it was both uplifting as well as depressing. The kids had a great time playing and doing all kinds of neat things and were worn out by the time we got home. We will definitely keep going back.

Josh is still in a holding pattern until Monday, hope his blood counts are still climbing. We really do not want to have to delay treatment if at all possible.

Day 63 Update - 14JAN09

Mom took this really cool picture;)
Josh finished up his radiation treatments today and got to take home his mask that they used to hold his head still and align the radiation beam. It is really neat and he is still deciding what he wants to do with it.

His red blood count was a little low today so he got a transfusion at the hospital before he came home. Josh is basically off until Monday when he needs to have pulled his white count up a bit so we can continue with treatment. If his counts qualify Josh will stay at the hospital overnight on Monday and then finish his chemo at home like last time.

Josh and the rest of the family want to wish Alyssa a Very Happy Birthday! We are so excited that you and Eric are about to be parents! You are in out thoughts every day.

Joshua got a radiation treatment this morning and then he, Jarrod, and Renee went to the Children's Cancer Center for a play date. He said he had a great time. Tomorrow is Joshua's last radiation treatment, YEAH! He has done really well during this round of treatments. Next week we start another round of chemo...

Day 61 Update - 12JAN09

We spent the morning at the hospital, Joshua got more radiation, chemo, and a spinal tap. His blood counts managed to come up a little all by themselves and he did not need another transfusion. Our run of un-seasonably warm weather has finally come to an end. It was nice while it lasted.

Day 60 Update - 11JAN09

Day 60! Josh had a good day and had fun playing with Jarrod around the house. The boys have such vivid imaginations and it is really fun to listen to them play together. They spend hours constructing fantastic scenarios and acting out their different roles.

Tomorrow we go back to the hospital for more blood work, possibly another transfusion, radiation, chemo, and a spinal tap. Hopefully Joshua has managed to get his counts up over the weekend so he will not need any more blood and we can continue with everything else planned for the day.

Day 59 Update - 10JAN09

Jarrod at his new school desk.
The view from Jarrod's new classroom!

Joshua had a nice day. Jamie and Christian stopped by for a while to visit. Josh is feeling pretty good considering his counts are so low. Hopefully he is on the way up all by himself. The weather has continued to be un-seasonably warm so the kids have been able to go outside for a little while each day. Josh can only get a tiny bit of sun and  he has to wear a hat for the next year or so, but every little bit helps:)

Day 58 Update - 09JAN09

Joshua's ANC is down to 189 so we are being extra careful about germs again. Renee is glad that both kids are at home especially since we always seem to get sick from them bringing something back from school.  He had radiation this morning and spent the rest of the day in school at home. Jarrod loves his new virtual school and is doing really good so far. Joshua is doing well keeping up with all of his homework as well.
