Ezra is an angel… Day 725 08NOV10

On a very sad note our little friend and fellow warrior Ezra left behind all of his pain and earned his angel wings this morning. He spent half of his tragically short life battling against cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. It is never easy to take the news that another child has died from this evil disease. It makes me cry, it makes me want to scream at the injustice of it, it makes me reflect on all that I have to be thankful for. No child should have to suffer the way these children do, we need to find a way to beat childhood cancer...

Joshua went in to clinic this morning to get his normal labs done as well as being re-tested for his IVIG levels. He had to have his port accessed for the blood draw and everything went great this time with no port problems. That was a relief for all of us. His numbers are good and we will get the results of his IVIG levels in a few days. If they are high enough he could stop getting the monthly IVIG transfusion. As soon as they were done Renee got the boys home so Joshua would be here when his teacher arrived. School work ensued and he did well today which makes for several good meetings in the last week. The rest of the day he spent playing and having fun according to Renee. We also got some great news this afternoon, we are going to finally get to go to the family weekend at Camp Boggy Creek! It is in fact this coming weekend and we will be joined by our good friends the Cavanaughs. We have tried repeatedly to be able to attend this event and have always had to cancel at the last minute, but this time it looks like we will make it. The boys are excited.

We are so sorry to hear Ezra passed away before the CURE could be found for this insidious disease of childhood cancer. Our hearts go out to you and all your cancer family and we pray science will learn something from it.

Camp Boggy Creek for the whole family along with the Cavanaughs sounds like a wonderful place to heal and share. We are so happy for your port access being easier, Josh, and IVIG going well. We know you will have an absolute blast this weekend! Looks as though the weather ought to be wonderful for camping.

We love you all. Laura & Frank
