It's been a hard day's night... Day 141 02APR09

It has been a long month. Not April, but March when we spent most of our time scattered between home and the hospital. They warned us that during the tough chemo phases we might spend more time in the hospital than at home. They were right. We had no idea that it would be so true for us. We hoped we would be one of the families who almost never stay at the hospital. But fate has willed it otherwise.

Renee and Joshua are still getting over the last stay. They both crashed today before dinner time. It has been really hard on them both. Little sleep and mind numbing boredom. Cooped up in a little room with no where to go . Teased endlessly by the wonderful view of life outside the window. The palms gently swaying in a breeze that they can see but not feel. It will do them both some good to get caught up on their rest. Put it in the bank for later use.

Joshua has really been a different child the last few days. He has had more energy, not a tremendous amount, just more. He looks less frail than he did at the beginning of March. He has not really gained a substantial amount of weight but he is back on track eating wise. The megace is helping. With a little luck and a lot of mac-n-cheese we can get some pounds on him.

The PEG shots today went fine. Josh got his port de-accessed and they were home early this afternoon. Barring any fluctuations in core temperature Joshua is off until the chemo trifecta next Thursday. So until then I am going to wish really hard for cooler weather inside of Josh and a chance for him to get some rest and enjoy being a little boy for a few days.
