Day 40 Update - 22DEC08

Joshua had a busy day today. We were at the hospital at 9:00 am to get started. Josh did labs then got a spinal tap and got his PICC line removed. He is really glad to get rid of the tube in his arm, he saved it in case anybody wants to see it :)

He will stay in the hospital tonight while he gets his chemo therapy and hopefully will be back home tomorrow sometime. We are beginning the second phase of his treatment, this phase will last 57 days. Joshua continues to be very brave. When the nurses ask if is allergic to anything he immediately chimes up with, "Leukemia! (pause...)  and fire ants...". It is really cute the way he says it.

Yay for having the PICC line removed!!! That's great, Joshua! Hayden will actually be at St. Joseph's tomorrow morning to have an outpatient procedure done. So even though you probaby won't see each other, you will be in almost the same place at the same time! Oh, and did I mention that I know one of the float nurses that has taken care of you? If you see a nurse named Lyn Hames, please tell her not to forget that she is supposed to take extra extra special care of you. I know all the nurses do that, but I have given Nurse Lyn special instructions! Take care, and hopefully you'll be home again soon. Merry Christmas, Joshua!

Woo Hoo Day 40! Finally no PICC line in your arm. That's a wonderful feeling. I was going to come and see you but it was so late and Frank has been sick and I don't want to share any nasty germs he might have, so I guess it's better we talk this way for a while.

You're a real trooper, buddy, and a great inspiration to others.

Only a couple more days until Christmas and I know you and Jarrod have to be so excited!!!

Love, miss Laura and Frank

Good Morning Snuggle Monkey,

I am so happy to hear the PICC line is out. I can't wait to see it. Maybe your Dad and Jarrod will build a special case to put it in.

I love seeing pictures of you with your prayer shawl. And the Bucs hat is the perfect accessory!

Keep kickin' butt little monkey. You're doing a great job.

Love, hugs and kisses
