Day 2

Day 2 14NOV08 started with a Bone Marrow Aspiration Biopsy, the insertion of a PICC line into Joshua's arm, an Echo Cardiagram, and another chest x-ray. The xray showed the Medial Stinal tumor covered the tops of both lungs and his heart and was pressing on his airway. The tumor was 5 inches wide and 2 inches thick. His lung capacity was reduced to about 20%. We received a diagnosis around 6:00 PM from Dr. Obzut of T Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-Cell ALL). Chemotherapy treatments were ordered to start immediately, Josh will be given six different drugs over the course of the next 6 weeks, The Induction Phase. This phase is designed to completely kill all of the Leukemic cells in Josh's system. Josh was given a dose of steroids to begin trying to reduce the mass in his chest.
