Day 5, 17NOV08 - Josh had a good nights sleep and had a large order of pancakes for breakfast. His labs came by looking very good and his chest x-ray from early in the morning showed that the tumor had shrunk significantly with the onset of chemotherapy. The plan today is to hang out and observe his labs to make sure his kidneys continue to do their job. Josh had his femoral catheter removed at about 7:30 this evening and will transfer back to the Pediatric Oncology Unit at St. Joseph's sometime tomorrow. Josh is feeling better for now and is giving Mom grief. His WBC (White Blood Cell Count) has dropped to 700 from 1000 yesterday, a normal count for a child is between 5000 and 10,000. We are being very careful about infections and Renee and I have about washed the skin off of our hands.

Hey Josh--We haven't met yet...I'm one of your mom's best friends (although I haven't stayed in touch like I should). We grew up together in Nashville. I played soccer with your Uncle Scotty. Anyway, I hope to meet you sometime soon. I've heard so much about you from your mom and I know you're a big fighter! Know that I'm thinking about you & praying for you...that you'll be better very soon. Hugs & kisses from Michele in California! Tell your mom that I'll call her tomorrow.

Hey little snuggle monkey! It's so wonderful to see your smiling face. I miss you so much and look forward to our next visit. How's the Gorilla doing? Is he behaving? Keep hanging tough. You're a true fighter - just like your Dad. There are about 1400 people in Clarksville. So far I have about 1200 of them saying prayers for you every day. You didn't know you were so popular, did you? So, how many pancakes did you eat this morning? We saw some snow today - just a bunch of little flakes flying around like zombies. A few of them acted like they didn't want to stay cause they came half way down and then shot straight back up. Crazy little flakes!!!! Blessing sends her love and wishes you could come see her again soon.
Since I beat your Uncle Eric in tennis, I want to play you when we get together again. I think I may be ready for your backhand. Tons of love, hugs and kisses ----- Gramma Linda

It is Miss Linda, your Sunday school teacher, your other teacher Mr. Andrew, and my grandsons, David and Drew.
We are so happy to know that you are feeling better. The boys are very impressed over the pancakes and they are amazed at what a tough guy you are hanging out at the hospital.
Well you keep up the good work and we will be checking back with you! I will tell all your classmates to ask their parents to go to the website so they can send you messages too!
Luv,

Miss Linda, Mr Andrew, David and Drew

Oh my goodness!! I think from the pictures you have grown since I last saw you in July! You are an incredibly strong warrior and you are doing so well. I know that this is going to be a long journey for you but you know that God, Mommy, Daddy, and Jarrod are going to be with you every step of the way. We are going to continue to pray for your great health and speedy recovery.

All our love....Jen, Billy, Emily, Robert, and Larry

Josh-this is Miss Debbie. You need to get better so you can come and be an Altar Server with Jarrod! You sure are looking very brave and I LOVE the big smiles you have!!! I sure liked the comfy bed that your mom has. Maybe she will want to take it home when you leave there. Do you think? LOL! I also liked the picture of Fr. John visiting you. He has been saying lot of prayers for you at Mass, so there are so many voices that God is hearing from St.Anne's! And I am sure so many more. Keep smiling and keep brave. Miss Debbie
