Beads, Bravery, and Fish... Day 244 14JUL09

We are all liking the last couple of days. Joshua has been doing well and he is home. He got a chance to go hang out with Taylor and Avery this afternoon and get some fun playtime in.

As he was leaving he informed me that he wanted salmon for dinner, "because it will make my counts go up." So for dinner I made salmon just the way he likes it along with a caesar salad and garlic noodles; some of his other favorites. He ate quite a bit and told me that he definitely felt his counts going up. I hope he is right because tomorrow we are off to the clinic to see if he will qualify for the next round of chemo. If he does he will get an LP along with vincristine, mercaptopurine and prednisone.

Joshua spent some time today adding all the bravery beads he has earned recently to his ever longer string. He is very proud of all those beads and he is certainly the bravest little boy I have ever known. We are very proud of him. His string is well over 18 feet so far and unfortunately growing a lot here recently. I have it hanging right outside my office door where it is always in my field of view and a constant reminder of all that Joshua has endured.

Later this evening Jarrod with some help from his smaller assistant finished building a LEGO crane It is one that Jarrod had built before and decided that he wanted to redo. Like all the LEGO things he touches it sprang from a neatly organized pile of parts to completion in a flash. The boys had fun lowering parts from atop the dining room table into the "chasm" they were working in.

Hey Snuggle Monkey,

How cool that you can feel your counts rising - and salmon is one of my all time favorites!

18 feet of bravery beads - you are one totally amazing and courageous warrior.

Glad to hear you got to hang out with Avery and Taylor. And Jarrod is so very lucky to have such a talented and able assistant.

Hang tough Mighty Warrior - you are The Champion.

Tons of Love, Hugs and Kisses,

Nonna
