Josh was not having the best of days. He is still not eating enough and Doctor Tebbi and the dietician are very concerned about it. The dietician was already talking about putting in a feeding tube. He is still getting the Megace to stimulate his appetite but it may take several more days before it really starts to work. It may not work at all. It is a frustrating time for us, trying to get him to eat when he does not really want to.

The G-CSF is taking its sweet time to really kick in. His ANC was up to 173 today. A little better than the previous day but not what we had hoped for. The fever is also still with him. It has been almost a week now. We still have no idea what is causing it.

Joshua got a cool Lego helicopter from our friend David Elder in Nashville. He had a fun time putting it together. It was a nice break from the boredom of being stuck in the hospital. It was one of the few times I saw him smile.

Joshua was definitely crabby this afternoon. He did not want to take his meds or even talk about eating more. I wish he could vocalize more of the reasons why he does not desire to eat. He tells us when his tummy hurts, sometimes. He says he is not hungry. But he can not tell us why.

The unanswered questions gnaw at us like a hungry animal. When we are on a treatment plan at least we know what is coming, what to expect, what to look out for. This is wandering in the wilderness, we sort of know where we are but the directions are unclear.

Tomorrow brings a new set of numbers to look at.  A gauge to measure progress by.

Tomorrow brings another chance for Joshua to get his appetite back up.

Tomorow brings hope.

All right Josh! Another Lego Helicopter! Pretty soon you and Jarrod will have a whole fleet of planes and helicopters. Buddy, I don't know what to say about eating, so I'm not going to talk about it - except offer you a few pounds of mine should you need them - they are all from junk food and spaghetti!

I seen you have withdrawn into a cocoon and emerge as a handsome butterfly! It's nice to see Jarrod up in the bed with you, chilling.

We love you. Laura & Frank

Hey Snaggle Snuggle Monkey,

Sounds like life is a real witch right now. I would give anything I have, or could get my hands on, to make it different for you. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the feeding tube is something to talk about but not use.

Hang in there little warrior. You have done a fabulous job so far.

I really like the cool helicopter. I can't believe how fast you can put those legos together!

Have the very best day you can.

Tons of Love, Hugs and Kisses,

Nonna
